Growing up, I remember the days of struggling to buy things.
As a kid, I didn't think we struggled at all. I figured we were rich. We had a house, pets, cars, church, food, clothes. I thought the times we were sleeping in the car meant we were going camping. I loved it! I figured we had everything we needed, but we did struggle.
We lived in a rental and had to hide our pets because we weren't allowed to have pets. But I'm thankful God gave me and my brother pets.
We've been there when we almost lost our homes a few times and it was the scariest thing to think we would be homeless, but I'm thankful for how many times God has given us shelter.
We've had car accidents, cars fail us or not enough money for gas to get anywhere, but I'm thankful for God faithfully blessing us with transportation to make it to church and stores to buy food.
We struggled with food, eating the same thing or going to pantries, but I'm thankful God blessed our stomachs to be full.
We've struggled with clothes. I had holes in clothes and wore them to school. I had gotten in trouble before for having holes in my jeans. I couldn't do much about it but add a patch or sow it up. But you know what, God has blessed us with warm clothes to wear, to the point I need to give clothes away.
If you haven't caught my drift, I want you to realize that every struggle my family and I faced, God was always there. He saw our need and, because He is so faithful, He did more than we could ever ask, think or imagine. I can't tell it all of how many times God came in the middle of the storms and calmed the raging seas.
I am so thankful God saved my life. I'm thankful to have family. I'm thankful that through all that I am facing now, I know God is near and He's about to turn things around.
Remember, today is to be thankful. Not for the material things, but the things that cannot be replaced. It could be family or a spouse. Perhaps your kids or your salvation.
Be thankful today! Tell God in prayer today how thankful you are. It is a pure joy to praise God in thankfulness.
Scripture of the Day:
