If you haven't read my book When The Pressure Is On: Dating, I'll give you a little insight of a point I made about myself. I can be impatient, especially when it comes to traffic. Don't get me started. Long story short, if you are a slow driver please move to the right or stay home.
Anyways.
I don't know about you, but waiting is ridiculously hard to do. When you want something or want to do something and you go to pray to God, expecting He'll give you the thumbs up to go and grab it, yet you're hit with the word, "Wait." Then you start pleading your case and why you should have it now, but God hits you with the word one more time, this time with a little conviction and correction.
Trust me, I've been in the same boat as you. Matter of fact, I find myself in that boat quite often. Although lately I've been learning to not react and simply respond in the action of waiting. What I mean by this is when I find myself tempted to go and do something myself and believe it's me "doing it by faith," I've learned to stop and go to God. As much as I want it, I know I have to go to God because He knows all things. He will show me the right way to go (Isaiah 30:21). He will show me the right person/people to have in my life (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). He will show me what not to use my money for (Hebrews 13:5; 1 Timothy 6:10; Matthew 6:24).
God wants us to prosper, and how we prosper is through the waiting. We walk cautiously in the waiting with God therefore we won't miss the blessings that will come through the process.
I will talk to the single folk for a second. My friend, the single journey can be a stretch. It's hard. It can feel quite lonely sometimes. But can I ask you a question? What are you doing in your singleness while you're waiting? You see, waiting isn't passive, its active. The right kind of active.
Notice the people in the bible had to wait, but during their waiting they were still moving in other areas, other callings, God had them to do. When Hannah desired to be pregnant, she didn't wallow in self-pity for not having a child. She continued to move and go to the church to keep praying and believing God for the blessing while she waited. When Joseph was sold into slavery, he didn't wait for God to lift him up, rather it says "The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did..." Joseph continued to work hard before he could reach the promise God gave him. Waiting looks like a long-boring journey, but its a beautiful-well worth it road trip with God.
Divine Creative Love's website states it so beautifully and gives us a simple and clear understanding of why we wait.
"When we wait patiently for the Lord, we're exercising faith in Him."
Is your waiting proving that you have faith in God, or is your faith during your waiting in what you can do? Our waiting season can lead us to in directions of other areas we need work on before we can receive that promise from God. Consider examining yourself. Are there any areas you need God to help you with in your waiting season? Have you neglected certain areas that need tending to? Have you buried away a promise because you're tired of waiting for it? Perhaps God is awakening that area to be healed, revived and refreshed but through Him.
We cannot allow ourselves to give in to the settlements or temptations of this world, Satan or our flesh. The more we keep ourselves drawn into the word of God, praise and prayer, those attempts to make us fail will not prevail.
Keep yourself drawn to the Lord as much as possible and allow Him to work on and in those areas you try running and hiding from. Perhaps for such a time as this, you may receive the promise God has for you.
Until next time peeps :)
Wow! It's been so long since I posted. Been going through a tremendous season with God. A season of waiting but also transitioning. God is so good and I'm excited to see what He has in store, for me and for you! Be blessed!
