#25 Do You Trust Your Foundation?

My sweet dear grandmother loved having a garden. She'd take me almost every morning, at least it felt like every morning, to K-Mart to go buy more flowers, plants, seeds and soil. This woman loved the fresh smell of nature.

She'd have me chose the flower, the color of the flower and which seeds should she sow. I wasn't too big on gardening, but I always thought it was a beautiful hobby. I was annoyed, seeing as though I was teenager who seemed to think she had a lot of plans in life.

My plans were my seeds, and I knew how I was going to pick the right place to plant them and make them grow. Unfortunately, my plans never grew the way I wanted them to. Why? Because I didn't have the right foundation.

It is quite important for builders and gardeners to have a great foundation to build or plant. Each one checks the ground and makes sure that foundation will help uphold and produce.

As we see in ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT says, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.”

We need a healthy foundation in our lives that will help us produce growth. That foundation is found in Jesus Christ. He alone can be the foundation to hold us, our future, our kids, our families, our church and much more.

My friend, if you continue to plant and sow your seeds in a hard ground, you will never reap a beautiful and bountiful harvest. As an old-time pastor said before, "If you don't like your harvest, then change your seed." It starts with changing your habits, your thoughts and your priorities.

Allow God to be your foundation and trust His word to teach you what you ought to sow in order to reap a better harvest.

Scripture of the Weekend:

"He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built."

-Luke 6:48
