"...strip off every weight that slows us down..."
-Hebrews 12:1
I don't know about you, but lately it feels like everything I'm dealing with is getting heavier every day. It's like right after you've gone through a heavy test of faith, you feel freedom and won the battle, only to have more weights drop on your shoulders.
Yes, I know adding a little more weight to the bar can help strengthen your muscles, but what about the reality weight of life that comes unexpectedly? Is it just me, or are you struggling to carry all the weight on your shoulders? Are you gaining any spiritual muscles with all the weight you've been carrying?
I heard a person say as they related themselves to carrying a lot in their life. "I told God, 'God, I'm carrying too much!' But God said to me, "You're carrying things you were never meant to carry."
Wow. Take a moment for that to settle in and shake your mind. This gave me a new perspective on how to manage my plate in life. Sometimes we allow ourselves, others, jobs, health, kids, married life, etc. to keep adding to our plate, when we should be running to the Lord and giving it to Him. We are not to try and carry the load on our shoulders. We're to come before the Lord and seek His ways, plans and help. He is our ever-present help (Psalms 46:1). We ought to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
This doesn't need to be a long post to tell you to stop adding more weight to your plate. Stop, give it to God and do what Jesus commands of you. "Carry your cross (Luke 9:23)."
Believe me or not, but I'm writing this to encourage myself. We all hit bumps, hills and cross a lot of valleys in this life, but don't give up. The weight may be too much and carrying it all feels like its breaking you, but my friend, run to God and cast that weight to Him. He won't let the righteous fall (Proverbs 55:22). The weight you're carrying isn't too heavy for God to carry.
Your miracle, breakthrough, blessing, victory and/or healing may be around the corner.
Stay encouraged my friend. Times are hard, but breakthrough is coming! Only believe!

"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
