#23 I am Weakly Strong

"For when I am weak, then I am strong."

-2 Corinthians 12:10

This scripture can be hard for a new believer to understand and let's be honest, it's even hard for a Christian to understand especially when you're facing an unbelievable battle. Like me, you probably have asked the same question as I did when I read this scripture: "How am I strong when I am weak? I feel no strength in my weaknesses! The problem is we have the tendency to use our own strength or a "made up" strength we create.

I've been guilty of this for a while until I gained a humbling understanding of what this strength in my weakness means. This strength is God's grace. Look back at verse 9, "Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." It is not by our strength nor by our power, but by God's grace and power can our weaknesses glorify God and strengthen us. Our failures, our struggles, our health problems are not a disappointment or an embarrassment to God, rather God uses these areas in our lives to pour out signs and wonders, miracles and blessings, breakthroughs and victories! He wants to give us His power by grace through our weakness.

Our weaknesses may look wrong in other eyes, but through God's eyes He still sees potential in you. He sees His Son in you. He sees an opportunity of using you to reach the lost and broken. He sees you! He strengthens you through your weakness. Don't be in a hurry to pray, rebuke and bind the suffering when at times the suffering is an opportunity for God to use you. Suffering isn't a bad thing. We are told by Paul in verse 10 to "take pleasure in" our "weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that" we "suffer for Christ."

Why should we take pleasure in our weaknesses, you may ask? Well, you will see the mighty hand of God Almighty move in unexpected ways you could never ask, think or imagine. God is the God of using broken, weak and hopeless people. He specializes in making the weak become strong, the broken become whole and giving hope to the hopeless. Our weaknesses can shine the glory of God's power in the midst of a spiritually (and physically) wounded and dying crowd.

My friend, you are strong in this weakness because the grace, the favor, of God is on and in your life. Turn your eyes to Jesus and see your weakness through His eyes. His grace is sufficient for you. His power is moving in your weakness. Refrain from being complacent in your weakness but learn to be content in your weakness through the loving grace of your Heavenly Father and watch Him turn your suffering into strength!

Be blessed my friend. Until next time :)
